Medlow Bath, NSW. Hydro Majestic Hotel Closed Until late 2012.

Nestled between Katoomba & Blackheath is the Hydro Majestic Hotel, at Medlow Bath which straddles the escarpment above the Megalong Valley. A refurbishment is long over due as it was rather dark and uninviting. Let’s hope there’s great scones, a cosy fire and an opportunity to enjoy the magnificent views. A few years ago, this was where I first came across high teas. Here’s a link for some old vintage postcards & pictures of the Hydro Majestic on Picture Australia, at the National Library. I especially love this old advertising poster.

By travelling a little further up to Blackheath & taking the turn at the railway down to the Megalong Valley, there’s a great view of the Hydro perched up on the cliff.

Seeing your there, it’s worth visiting the Megalong Valley Tearooms. I’m looking forward to revisiting them soon and enjoying the great scones & the view. I’ll be sure to keep you posted!
